What is Profhilo?
Profhilo might be best described as a “bio-remodeller” as it stimulates natural healing processes within your body. The treatment works in two stages, first hydrating your skin and then stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin, a process known as neocollagenesis. The product contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA) on the market, at 62mg per syringe, despite not being a dermal filler.

What is the difference between Profhilo and Dermal Fillers?
Due to the way that Profhilo is formulated, it is not regarded as a volumizing treatment in the same way that Dermal Fillers are. Dermal Fillers are used to enhance and volumize areas of the face, like the lips, the chin and restore volume loss, wherever is needed.
Profhilo on the other hand is primarily a hydrating treatment and works to restore vitality across the whole appearance of the face, not just one part of it. What you need to know about Profhilo
Instructions Before Profhilo Treatment
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Mesulid, Brufen, Voltaren) and analgesics (e.g. aspirin) for at least a week before the treatment, as they increase the possibility of bleeding and therefore bruising during the treatment.
Also avoid taking vitamins and multivitamin tablets, as these are substances that increase the bleeding tendency and consequently the risk of bruising.
It would be best not to consume alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
Do not perform the treatment 1-2 days before an important event for you, because bruising or swelling might happen at the injection areas. Better schedule it one week in advance.
Before your treatment, the area of your face should be clean and without make-up.
Instructions After Profhilo Treatment
You can return to your daily activities immediately, as long as you do not put pressure or touch the area where the filler was injected, for at least the first 2 days.
It is best to avoid vigorous aerobic exercise for at least the first 2 days.
Try to avoid excessive sun exposure for the first 2 days.
Avoid alcohol and aspirin for 2 days after your treatment.
If you experience bruising at the injection sites, you can treat them with topical arnica cream.

Myth: Profhilo is a one-time treatment
Truth: No this is not true. Profhilo is typically done in a series of three treatments, spaced one month apart. This allows the hyaluronic acid to spread evenly throughout the skin and provide its excellent results.
Myth: Profhilo results are long-lasting
Truth: Not really. Profhilo results can last up to six months or more, depending on the individual's skin type and lifestyle factors. After the initial three treatment series, maintenance treatments may be required every 6 months to maintain the desired results.

Profhilo, if the right indications are present, has no significant side effects, except perhaps swelling and bruising, if they occur. As in all cases, an important principle of success is the right choice of Doctor, as this is a purely medical procedure. Just as you would choose a specialized Gynecologist to undergo a gynecological operation, choosing a certified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon is equally important for the application of the Profhilo treatment.
However, there are not a few cases where we have come across cases of disfigurement, at the hands of inappropriate people who were either unqualified doctors or non-doctors at all like beauticians in beauty salons. There are plenty of complaints about beauty salons that cheated consumers with false promises for hyaluronic treatments of 100 - 120 euros! Because as you know, you get what you pay for and you should not choose based on where it is cheaper, but where it is the safest and highest quality for your treatment.
