What is Dermapen?
Dermapen resembles a pen, which manages to "erase" the signs of ageing, wrinkles, stretch marks and scars, rewriting the history of your skin and regenerating the epidermis.
At its tip, Dermapen has a series of microneedles, even finer than a hair, which cause microinjuries to the skin. These injuries stimulate the body's healing mechanisms by activating fibroblasts, which produce new collagen and elastin, in their attempt to heal the skin.
How does the original Dermapen work?
The advanced technology of the original Dermapen is creating approximately 120 microinjuries per second. These microinjuries in the skin activate the fibroblasts, for natural production of collagen and elastin (CIT – Collagen Induction Therapy). The Dermapen Treatment - Step by Step
Medical History - Skin Assessment
Before any other action, it is important to have a medical consultation with a qualified Doctor, who will carefully assess the condition of your skin. At this step, a personalized medical treatment protocol will be selected, with a Dp Dermaceutical Mesococtail, based on your skin needs. Also at this step, the number of Dermapen sessions required and the combination with other treatments, which could be applied together with Dermapen for maximum effects, will be discussed with you.
Skin Preparation
Preparation for Dermapen begins with thorough cleansing of the skin and antisepsis. Then, on clean skin, an anaesthetic cream is applied, so that any discomfort is reduced to a minimum and the application is completely tolerable.
Selection of the Right Settings
At this step, the Doctor takes into consideration the previous medical consultation and determines the penetration depth and speed of microneedles, on the device's digital screen, choosing the ideal intensity, based on your skin needs.
Application of Dermapen
At this stage the Dermapen treatment begins and the area is scanned with horizontal, vertical and diagonal movements. Practically, tiny microholes are opened into the skin and this facilitates the penetration of the DP Dermaceutical mesococtail we have chosen for your skin.
Instructions after Dermapen
In this last step, the treatment is completed with the application of special vitamins and hyaluronic serums from the DP Dermaceutical products, as well as the application of the original Dermapen Hyaluronic Mask, which reduces redness and soothes the skin. The mask is removed after the desired period of time and a moisturizing and regenerating cream is applied over the treated area. If you wish at this step, the redness (which is reasonable after the treatment) is covered with a medical make-up, so that you can return to your daily activities immediately.
What you need to know about Dermapen
Instructions before Dermapen treatment
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Mesulid, Brufen, Voltaren) and analgesics (e.g. aspirin) for at least a week before your treatment, as they increase the possibility of bleeding and therefore bruising during the treatment.
Also avoid taking vitamins and multivitamin preparations, for at least one week before the treatment, as these are substances that increase the bleeding tendency and consequently the risk of bruising.
It would be best not to consume alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
Before your treatment, the area of your face should be clean and without make-up.
If you have a history of cold sores, you should let our medical staff know, as Dermapen can trigger it.
Instructions after Dermapen
Frequent hydration of the area where Dermapen was applied is very important and necessary for faster healing of the skin. For this reason, you should moisturize the area, at least four times a day, for a week.
Also, the use of regenerative cream is essential, for the best possible reconstruction of the skin.
Protection from the sun is equally important and necessary. Especially on the face, but also on any other sun-exposed area that you had Dermapen (e.g neck and decolletage), we recommend that you apply sun protection cream on top of your moisturizer for 1 week.
It is also very important to use fresh and clean sheets, pillowcases and towels after the treatment, as the already used ones may cause skin contamination.
We advise you to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun (sunbathing / solarium) for at least 2-3 weeks after your treatment.
It is recommended to avoid make-up and the application of cosmetic products to the area for at least 24 - 48 hours after the treatment.
You should wash your face with a mild cleansing soap from the very first day, after the treatment, being careful not to rub your skin too much. Avoid any sponges and facial cleansing devices and tap dry your skin gently with a clean towel.
Until your skin is fully healed and the redness is completely gone, you should avoid cosmetic products containing Retinol and Acids and any kind of Peeling or Scrub.
Avoid drinking alcohol, doing vigorous exercise and having saunas for two to three days after your treatment, as they increase blood flow to the face and prolong redness.

Truth: Both of these treatments are top-quality skin resurfacing treatments and have equal results if the authentic medical devices and proper protocols are applied. At low depth of 0.2mm - 1mm, no anesthetic cream is even required, while at higher depths, a local anesthetic cream is applied, before the treatment, so that the treatment will be completely tolerated.
The recovery time of Dermapen treatment is ranging from 2-5 days, depending on the depth of the treatment. When the treatment was done gently and at a low depth, the recovery will be 1 or at most 2 days. In these cases, already after the first few hours, the intense redness settles down and resembles that of the skin when exposed to the sun.
So most people can normally return to their daily activities after treatment, especially with some medical make-up for cover. However, in the cases where the treatment was done more intensively and in greater depth, then the recovery time is longer and reaches 3-5 days. The answer to this question is Yes. Dermapen treatment is completely safe, even in periods of intense sunlight, when the application of other treatments is contraindicated. However you should avoid direct exposure to the sun for up to 2 weeks afterwards and to use a hat and sunscreen, for your protection.
Depending on your skin needs and the time you can afford for this treatment, the recommended interval between treatment sessions ranges from 20 days to 1.5 months.

Dermapen cannot be applied in cases of pregnancy - breastfeeding, infectious blood diseases (such as AIDS and Hepatitis) and metal allergy (due to titanium microneedles). Also, Dermapen treatment cannot be done by those whose skin shows redness and rashes from skin diseases (eg atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, lupus erythematosus, etc.). Taking anticoagulants, which increase the chances of bleeding, is also a contraindication, as well as having a hereditary predisposition to facial broken vessels (facial telangiectasias).
