What is Acne Laser?
The Nd-YAG Acne Laser is a highly effective acne treatment that works with two goals. Firstly, it fights inflammation and literally disappears pus-filled, red pimples within 1-2 days of its application. Secondly it also fights acne scars, with the increase in collagen production it causes. The wavelength of this Laser at 1064 nm is able to reach the depth where the sebaceous glands are located and act effectively by reducing their size and thus regulating in that way the oversecretion of sebum and the oiliness of acne skin.
With its thermal penetration to this depth, it also activates fibroblasts to increase collagen production, thus contributing to the remodelling of scars. What is the difference between Acne Laser and Fractional Laser?
These two Lasers are similar in that they are great at treating acne scars and causing skin regeneration. However they reach a different depth into the dermis and therefore their recovery is different. The big advantage of Nd-YAG Laser compared to Fractional Laser is that the Nd-YAG Laser does not have a long recovery time (that means that the skin does not have the intense redness it has after the Fractional) and the person has a slight redness that gradually subsides within the next few hours (6-24 hours). So many people prefer it to treat acne without the prolonged redness of Fractional.
Also, the Acne Laser has the ability to act on the sebaceous gland and shrink it, as a result of which it produces less sebum. On the contrary, the Fractional Laser does not have any specific effect on this gland, but has a general effect on the skin.

What is the Black Diamond Protocol?
The Black Diamond Protocol is used in people with acne prone skin, as well as in people who wish to regulate oiliness and renew their skin without irritation. It is the combination of Nd-YAG Laser application with Activated Carbon Mask.
The treatment begins with the application of a thin layer of activated carbon gel on the skin, which is left for a few minutes to be integrated. Activated Carbon absorbs sebum and impurities, thus deeply cleansing the skin and its pores.
Then, high-intensity and speed pulses from the Laser "hit" the skin and as the beam of the special Laser is attracted by the black colour of the carbon particles, it targets and destroys the carbon particles and with it the sebum and impurities that it had absorbed. Essentially, a Laser Peeling and at the same time a Laser Cleansing of the skin is performed with this treatment, which removes dead cells, sebum and impurities, leaving the skin smooth and soft the next day.
Also, as the carbon gel is removed with the Laser, mild heat is produced, which penetrates the dermis and stimulates the fibroblasts to produce new elastin and collagen. Skin Preparation
The preparation for the Acne Laser begins with thorough cleaning of the skin and antisepsis. No anaesthetic cream is required for this treatment and we only take care to protect your eyes with the specific eyes protective glasses.
Laser Application
The intensity of the Laser is adjusted by the Doctor, depending on your skin type and the purpose of the treatment. Once all the necessary settings are made, the skin scanning begins. The treatment is painless and you only feel a slight burning sensation at the time of laser application, but at a completely tolerable level.

Before your treatment, the area of your face should be clean and without make-up.
If you have a history of cold sores, you should inform our medical staff, as the Facial Acne Laser can trigger it.
Instructions after the Acne Laser
Frequent hydration of the area where the Acne Laser was performed is very important and necessary for faster healing of the skin. For this reason, you should moisturise the area where you had Acne Laser every day, at least twice a day, for a week.
Also, the use of regenerative cream is essential, for the best possible reconstruction of the skin.
Protection from the sun is equally important and necessary. Particularly on the face, but also on any other sun-exposed area, where you had Acne Laser. We recommend that you apply sun protection on top of your moisturiser for 1 week.
We also advise you to avoid prolonged sun exposure (sunbathing / solarium) for at least 2 - 3 weeks after your treatment.
It is also very important to use clean sheets, pillowcases and towels after the treatment, as those already used may cause some contamination, due to the existing germs.
Until your skin is fully healed and the redness is completely gone, you should avoid cosmetic products containing Retinol and Acids and any kind of Peeling or Scrub.
You should wash your face, with a mild cleansing foam, from the very first day after the treatment, being careful not to rub your skin too much. Avoid any sponges and facial cleansing devices and tap dry your skin with gentle movements, with a clean towel.
Until your skin is fully healed and the redness is completely gone, you should avoid cosmetic products containing Retinol and Acids and any kind of Peeling or Scrub.
Avoid drinking alcohol, doing vigorous exercise and having saunas for two to three days after your treatment, as they increase blood flow to the face and prolong redness.
