What is the Body Dermapen?
In terms of its appearance, the Body Dermapen looks like a pen, which has the ability to "erase" wrinkles, stretch marks and scars, rewriting the history of your skin and regenerating your complexion.
At its tip, it has a series of titanium microneedles, thinner than a hair, which cause micro-injuries into the skin, thus stimulating the body's healing mechanisms, by activating the fibroblasts, which produce new collagen and elastin, in their attempt to heal the skin.
How does the original Body Dermapen work?
The advanced technology of the original Dermapen delivers approximately 120 micro-openings per second to the skin and with 16 microneedles on its head, it delivers a total of approximately 1,920 micro-openings per second (16 x 120), i.e. 104% faster than all other microneedling devices. Dermapen 4 has the ability to adjust the penetration depth of the needles from 0.2 to 3 millimetres, thus offering a wide range of action. The settings of the device are based on the area of application and the purpose of the treatment.
The micro-injuries created on the skin activate fibroblasts for natural collagen and elastin production (CIT – Collagen Induction Therapy). The thickness of the skin on our body varies depending on the area. For example the skin on the back of our hands is much thinner (ranging from 1.5 - 2 mm), than the skin on the abdomen or thighs (ranging from 2.5 - 5 mm). Medical History - Skin Assessment
Before any Dermapen application is made to the desired area of the body, a medical consultation with a specially trained Doctor is done, in order to carefully assess the condition of your skin. At this step, a complete personalised medical protocol will be made, based on the needs of your skin, the number of sessions required and the combination of other treatments, which could be applied together with the Body Dermapen, for giving you the maximum effect.
Skin Preparation
The preparation for Body Dermapen begins with careful antisepsis of the skin and then, on clean skin, an anaesthetic cream is applied, in order to reduce any discomfort to minimum and to make the application absolutely tolerable.
Selection of the Right Settings
At this stage, the Doctor, taking into account the previous medical consultation, sets the depth and penetration speed of the Dermapen microneedles, on the digital screen of the device, choosing the ideal intensity, based on your skin needs.
Body Dermapen Actual Treatment
The actual treatment begins and the treated area is scanned with horizontal, vertical and diagonal movements. Microscopic holes are actually opened into the skin, through which the therapeutic body mesotherapy ingredients we have chosen, go through.
Post Treatment Instructions

Instructions before the Body Dermapen treatment
Do not consume alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
Do not take anti-inflammatory or pain-relieving medications (e.g Mesulid, Brufen, Voltaren, aspirin) and vitamins or multivitamins for at least a week before treatment, as they increase the chance of bleeding and bruising during treatment.
Also avoid taking vitamins and multivitamin preparations, for at least one week before the treatment, as these are substances that increase the bleeding tendency and consequently the risk of bruising.
Instructions after the Body Dermapen treatment
Frequent hydration of the area where the Dermapen was applied is necessary for faster healing of the skin (at least four times a day, for a week).
Also, the use of regenerative cream is essential, for the best possible reconstruction of the skin.
We recommend that you apply sunscreen on top of your moisturiser for 1 week and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun (sunbathing / solarium) for at least 2 - 3 weeks after your treatment, (especially if the treated area is a sun-exposed area).
You should wash your body with a mild liquid cleansing from the very first day after the treatment and you should be careful not to rub the skin vigorously in the treated areas. Avoid any sponges and scrubs and tap dry your skin with gentle movements, with a clean towel.
Also, it is important to use clean sheets and towels after the treatment, as already used ones might cause skin infection.
Until your skin is fully healed and the redness is completely gone, you should avoid exfoliating products that contain Retinol and Acids and any type of Peeling or Scrub.
Finally, avoid drinking alcohol, intense exercise, and saunas for two to three days after your treatment, as they increase blood flow and prolong redness.

Myth: The Body Dermapen is the same as the Body Dermaroller available for home use
Truth: Although both are microneedling devices, their main difference is that the one (Dermapen) is a professional tool device, while the other (Dermaroller) is a home tool. Dermapen provides a personalised treatment plan, as the Doctor adjusts digitally the depth of action of the device, depending on the condition and needs of each skin. Whereas, the Dermaroller rolls in the same way and at the same depth, in all parts of the body, even in the most sensitive areas such as the back of the hands, thus making the treatment more traumatic and bloodier.
In addition, with the Dermapen, epidermal damage is minimised, thanks to the vertical movement of the needles, whereas with the Dermaroller, the needles enter the skin at an angle, causing intense injury, thus making the treatment more painful and the healing time more prolonged. Another important advantage of the Dermapen is the speed and accuracy of the application, as the device works automatically and digitally, while the treatment with the Dermaroller depends on the manual technique and hand dexterity of the operator.
Myth: Fractional Body Laser is more effective than Body Dermapen
Truth: Both treatments, if the original medical devices are applied, have top results. Both these devices cause controlled micro-injuries to the skin, which activate the healing processes, resulting in the production of new collagen and elastin. They also create micro-openings in the skin, through which beneficial mesotherapeutic ingredients are channelled.
However, their main difference is that the Fractional Laser causes the micro-openings with the Laser beams, while the Dermapen with the titanium micro-needles of its headpiece. Another difference between them is that the Fractional Laser is prohibited in the summer months, while the Dermapen is allowed all year round.
Myth: Dermapen results are slow to appear
Truth: The results of Dermapen are visible from the 2nd day. The Microneedling treatment result is based both on the action of DP Dermaceuticals mesotherapeutic ingredients and the skin's own healing mechanisms. The results are immediately visible, after the period of 2-5 days that the skin needs to heal, from the controlled micro-injuries that we have caused. By increasing the number of treatments, the results will be even more impressive, as the results are cumulative.
Frequent Questions about Body Dermapen
No, the treatment is painless and tolerable, so you can do it without fear. At low intensities of 0.2mm - 1mm, no anaesthetic cream is even needed, while at higher intensities a local anaesthetic cream is applied before the treatment, thus making it completely tolerable.
Dermapen treatment requires recovery time, approximately 2-5 days, depending on the depth of the treatment. When the treatment is applied gently and at a shallow depth, the recovery will be 1 or at most 2 days. In these cases, already after the first few hours, the intense redness recedes. The majority of people can therefore return to their activities, immediately after the treatment. However, when the treatment is more intensive and in-depth, then the recovery time reaches 4-5 days, but still without having any particular difficulty in your daily activities, as you can cover the redness after the first 2 days.
Immediately after the treatment the skin will have a mild redness, which subsides within the first 24 hours. In addition, the original Dermapen is accompanied by a series of specialised Dp Dermaceutical products, which contribute to the rapid healing and soothing of the skin, reducing the recovery time to minimum.
Body Dermapen treatment is completely safe even during periods of intense sunlight, as long as you avoid direct sun exposure for several weeks after the treatment and use sunscreen.
The time interval we recommend between sessions ranges from 20 days to 1.5 months, according to the needs of your skin and the time each patient devotes to his treatments, for recovery.
An indicative number of sessions for Body Dermapen is 4-6 sessions, once a month. This always depends on the needs of the skin and what one is seeking from the treatment. Thus, for the treatment of superficial blemishes, discolorations and wrinkles, 4 - 6 sessions are a sufficient number, while for acne scars or stretch marks, 8 - 12 sessions are required and with a deeper treatment protocol.
The first results are visible from the very first session, but they steadily improve with each session, as collagenogenesis is intensified and becomes even more noticeable after 4-6 sessions. However, collagen formation does not stop once the sessions stop. The effect of collagen formation and intensive cell renewal continues and thus the skin quality continues to improve steadily, for the next 6-12 months.

The treatment can be carried out at any time of the year, even in the summer, especially if the treatment area is not going to be exposed to the sun soon. Otherwise, the best time to do Body Dermapen treatments is usually in the winter, when sun exposure is minimal.

Also, the treatment is contraindicated for people who have irritations and rashes from active skin diseases (eg atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, lupus erythematosus, etc.). A relative contraindication is taking anticoagulants, which increase the chances of bleeding.
