Autologous Mesotherapy is an innovative method of regeneration and antiageing, based on our blood cells. During the treatment, a small amount of our own blood is collected, about 10mls, as much as it is needed for a common blood test. Then, this blood is centrifuged, separated and an activation process begins, in which a series of growth factors are released.
These growth factors are distinguished for their healing and regenerative properties and are the ones that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, at their injection points, thus managing to restore the youthfulness and firmness of the face.
The main difference between autologous facial mesotherapy and other mesotherapies is that your own blood is used for therapeutic purposes, with your own biological factors and that’s why it is characterised as autologous mesotherapy. It is a 100% natural treatment, which eliminates the risk of allergies. No exogenous agents, such as hyaluronic or vitamins ingredients are used, as it is done in heterologous mesotherapies and thus autologous facial mesotherapy becomes a treatment designed by you for you.
When we mention Autologous Mesotherapy, we mean the patented, original medical protocol and not cheap imitations. The average price of the original protocol starts at 150 euros. As you already know, in life you get what you pay for and this should make you concerned about people who claim that they offer these treatments at very low costs. We recommend that you pay attention and check if they are Doctors first of all and if they do the original medical treatment, before you book any treatments with them, so that you don't pay double and triple later to Doctors, to fix their complications.
At this stage, a small amount of 10mls of blood is collected by the Doctor, just like when they take blood for a common blood test.
The collected blood is placed in a special centrifugation device, where it will be separated. This takes about 10 minutes and during this time, local anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area, so that this will be completely numb afterwards.
Once the blood has been centrifuged, you can see the separation of its components in the vial. Among these layers, the one with the golden yellow colour is the only one that is used for the injections. At this stage, if you want, the treatment could be combined with hyaluronic acid or other heterologous mesotherapy ingredients.
At this stage, the anaesthetic cream is removed, the skin is disinfected and autologous mesotherapy begins to be injected into the skin with manual microinjections or with the Dermapen device, if that is the way you wish. Microinjections appear as small bumps, which settle down after 10 - 20 minutes.
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Mesulid, Brufen, Voltaren) and analgesics (e.g. aspirin) for at least a week before your treatment, as they increase the possibility of bleeding and therefore bruising during the treatment.
Also avoid taking vitamins and multivitamin preparations, for at least one week before the treatment, as these are substances that increase the bleeding tendency and consequently the risk of bruising.
It would be best not to consume alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
Before your treatment, the area of your face should be clean and without make-up.
It is recommended to avoid make-up and the application of cosmetic products to the area for at least 24 hours after the treatment.
It is good to minimise – as much as possible – exposure to the sun in the first days after treatment. The daily use of sunblock cream with a high protection factor is essential.
Avoid vigorous physical exercise, sauna and exposure to high temperatures for a few days.
Avoid swimming in a pool for the first two - three days.
If small bruises appear at the injection areas, apply Arnica cream topically until they subside within a few days.
The antiageing and healing effects of autologous mesotherapy, if combined with the regenerative properties of Dermapen, give even better and more spectacular results. The multiple microinjuries caused by Dermapen, stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin and prepare the skin to accept the growth factors, helping it to absorb them faster and at the same time helping them to penetrate in deeper layers. As is well known, two treatments are better than one and thus the combination of autologous mesotherapy with Dermapen, gives your skin a firm and brighter appearance, treating the appearance of fine wrinkles, scars, discolorations and signs of photoaging.
In addition, when a resurfacing treatment such as Dermapen is combined with autologous mesotherapy, you will see that your skin heals better and faster, than if you have had only Dermapen.
The Total Plasma Lift protocol is the combination of two treatments: Autologous Mesotherapy and Fractional Laser. This protocol begins with the application of Fractional Laser, which acts on the deepest layers of the skin. In that way, the fibroblasts are stimulated, contributing to the faster production of collagen and elastin.
Immediately after, autologous mesotherapy follows, with microinjections all over the face, which contributes to skin hydration and faster healing (compared to if you had done only Fractional). The total duration of the treatment does not exceed 40 minutes and the most important thing is that it offers the results of a mini-lift, without pain, surgery and long recovery time.
Does your skin feel dehydrated and dull? If so, then this combo treatment is for you. Hyaluronic Skin Booster has the ability to "plump" the skin and hydrate it from within. So, when heterologous mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid is combined with autologous mesotherapy, which offers growth factors to the skin, the overall skin renewal and glow will be spectacular. Each one of these treatments complements the other and their combination can be miraculous, in terms of texture, hydration, thickness and brightness of the skin.
The main reason is that in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics, we use the original medical protocol for autologous mesotherapy. Elsewhere you will find cheap non-authentic imitations that have nothing to do with the safety and effectiveness of the original protocol. This medical protocol is achieving a concentration of growth factors 4 - 6 times higher than what simple autologous mesotherapy has, thus offering increased regenerative and healing properties and longer duration of results.
The second and also very important reason is the many years of experience of Dr. Zografou and her specialization in the field of regenerative medicine (PhD thesis in Plastic Surgery)
combined with the modern therapeutic protocols , which she has created and which are applied in our Clinics.
For all of you, that safety is an important factor, to choose where your treatments will be done, is that in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics, medical treatments are applied daily, exclusively by the qualified Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons of our Clinics and not by paramedical staff, as is the case elsewhere.
Autologous mesotherapy is a non-invasive treatment that has no side effects, is painless and it is done in just 30 minutes. It is completely safe, since it is a 100% biological treatment, compared to other mesotherapy treatments, which are administered with exogenous ingredients. In autologous mesotherapy, the protagonist is your blood, which only has benefits for your skin, giving you natural rejuvenation from within.
Absolutely none, if it is done by Doctors in a medical enviroment. Because no foreign material is used, there is no fear of side effects, allergic reactions or unnatural effects. The skin may show slight swelling, oozing and erythema, but these will subside in a few hours. It is therefore a very well-tolerated treatment, because the chances of a reaction are eliminated, since material from the patient's own blood is injected.
Autologous mesotherapy should not be performed when the person is facing blood problems e.g. thrombophilia, severe anaemia, coagulation disorders, etc. It should also not be used in conditions such as AIDS and hepatitis, nor should it be used in people taking anticoagulants. Finally, it should also be avoided during pregnancy, although pregnancy is a relative and not an absolute contraindication, as only autologous ingredients are used in this treatment.
The beneficial effects of the growth factors of this treatment start from the moment they are injected into the skin and an initial result is already visible, from the very first days after the treatment. You will look brighter and younger, while your skin will feel hydrated and firmer. The intensive production of collagen does not stop there, but continues for the next 2-3 months and increases with repeated, consecutive sessions. This practically means that you will continue to see your skin improving, in the following months.
Moreover, one of the advantages of the enhanced autologous mesotherapy applied in our Clinics, compared to the simple autologous mesotherapy applied elsewhere, is the longer duration of its effects, since it has 4-6 times greater concentration of growth factors and the results, even if autologous mesotherapy was done alone, last for 4 - 6 months and if consecutive treatments are performed, the results reach 1 year. Also the duration of the effects, depend on whether the treatment was combined with a resurfacing treatment such as Dermapen and Fractional Laser or a Hyaluronic Skin Booster or whether it was applied alone. The results in combined treatments can last from 8 months to 18 months, depending on the number of sessions that have been carried out.
