Exosomes are nanoparticles that function as messengers, playing an important role in the communication and transport of various molecules between cells. Exosomes are attached to the cell membrane of various cells and release a series of valuable bioactive molecules (lipids, proteins, amino acids, peptides and many growth factors) to these cells. Exosomes are typically 30 to 150 nanometers in size and in our Clinics we use only nanosomes of plant origin (from damask rose and centella asiatica) that are produced with the help of nanotechnology.
By using Exosomes we are essentially triggering our own cells to work more and function as they should (i.e. to repair damage that has been done to the skin due to photoageing and chronic ageing), thereby improving the appearance of the skin and its overall health.
They are similar in that both are cell therapies that contain growth factors. Autologous Mesotherapy could be described as a precursor treatment to Exosomes. Exosomes contain more than 100 growth factors, while Autologous Mesotherapy contains about 12 growth factors.
This makes Exosomes a much more powerful treatment, but also the Exosomes beyond their own beneficial "increased charge" have the ability to "wake up" the rest of the cells and activate anti-ageing processes.
This treatment is done in 3 different ways. However, the deeper they reach to the skin, the better their results will be.
The Dermapen opens micro-holes through the skin and thus facilitates the penetration of the beneficial Exosomes (applied locally on the skin), into the deeper layers of the skin, increasing their absorption by 80%! That’s why Dermapen is also called Non-Injectable Mesotherapy.
For more targeted results, treatment with Exosomes can also be performed in an injectable way, with the method of Injectable Mesotherapy. This method results in the placement of beneficial Exosomes into the deeper layers of the skin.
The Exosomes can also be used in the form of a cream or serum daily on the skin, after we have previously performed a good massage in the area, helping them to be better absorbed.
Before the actual treatment, it is important to have a medical evaluation with our Doctors, who carefully assess the condition of your skin. At this stage, a personalised medical treatment protocol will be selected, with the method of application of the Exosomes, which is suitable for you, based on the needs of your skin.
Also at this step, the number of sessions required and the combination with other treatments, which could be applied together with the Exosomes for maximum effects, are determined.
At this step, the Doctor, taking into account the previous medical evaluation, determines the depth and speed of penetration of the microneedles of the Dermapen, on the digital screen of the device, choosing the ideal intensity, based on the needs of your skin, if you have chosen to apply the Exosomes with Microneedling.
At this step, the application of the Dermapen begins and the treatment area is scanned, with horizontal, vertical and diagonal movements. Essentially, tiny holes are opened into the skin in order for the Exosomes to penetrate deeply into the skin.
In case you choose to have an injectable treatment with Exosomes, then these are injected into the skin with microinjections, as in injectable mesotherapy.
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Mesulid, Brufen, Voltaren) and analgesics (e.g. aspirin) for at least a week before your treatment, as they increase the possibility of bleeding and therefore bruising during the treatment.
Also avoid taking vitamins C and E, Omega-3 fatty acids and multivitamin preparations, for at least one week before the treatment, as these are substances that increase the bleeding tendency and consequently the risk of bruising.
It would be best not to consume alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
Before your treatment, the area of your face should be clean and without make-up.
If you have a history of cold sores, you should let our medical staff know, as Dermapen can trigger it.
You should not wash your face for 4 hours after the treatment, as well as touch it
Avoid exposure to the sun for 1 week and if you must be exposed do not go out without sun protection.
Avoid wearing makeup for the next 24 hours after treatment
Do not do any other facial treatment for the next 72 hours.
Exosomes treatment significantly helps reduce problems such as dullness and dryness, signs of photoaging, sagging skin, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, discolorations, acne and rosacea, as well as hair loss.
Immediately after the application of the treatment, the skin is characterised by mild redness, which will subside within the first 24 hours, as the Exosomes significantly contribute to the rapid healing and soothing of the skin and you can return to your normal daily activities.
In Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics we adhere to the highest safety standards and we only use proven and safe medical treatments. The Exosomes used in our Clinics are only of plant origin and not from animal origin. They come from the centella asiatica plant and damask rose and are certified CE Marked products.
The answer is yes. Exosomes can be applied to many areas of the body and offer skin regeneration and tightening. They significantly improve the appearance of stretch marks, cellulite, treat photoaging from the sun and repair scars and marks. The Dermapen treatment with which the Exosomes is carried out safely on the body and it can be done during summer also, if someone is careful with the sun afterwards.
