Give your skin a boost with the material, which increases its volume up to 20 times!!

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural glycosaminoglycan, a substance produced in the human body. It is known for its excellent ability to bind and retain water (holding up to 1000 times its weight in water and increasing its volume up to 20 times), which makes it an extremely hydrophilic molecule and a very effective skin moisturizer.

This unique characteristic makes it a popular ingredient in the cosmetic industry, where it is widely used as a dermal filler to restore skin volume and hydration, improve its texture and smooth wrinkles. Injectable hyaluronic acid in a gel form is a stabilized hyaluronic acid molecule that is prepared in the laboratory and is identical and completely biocompatible with the hyaluronic acid of our own body.

How does Hyaluronic Acid work?

Over time, our own natural hyaluronic acid in the body decreases and this decrease starts from the age of 20 and by the time we are 50 it has halved. The results of this natural process, combined with gravity and ageing, is the sagging of the skin, as well as the appearance of wrinkles. With the use of injectable hyaluronic acid we can regain this lost volume, restore our facial features to the state they were years ago, while at the same time we offer deep hydration to the injection sites and wrinkles filling.

Types of Hyaluronic Acid

The synthetic injectable hyaluronic acid is a transparent gel in pre-filled syringes of 1ml, which can replace the natural hyaluronic with absolute safety. It comes in different forms of viscosity, due to its use in different parts of the face and body and thus we also have different types of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers, which are divided into thin, medium and hard.

Thin Fillers are used in more sensitive areas, where the skin is very thin, such as around the eyes, lips and perioral area, for fine wrinkles and scars, as well as for advanced facial mesotherapy in the form of Skin Booster.

Medium Fillers are used to replenish volume such as for lips and cheekbones and to fill in deep lines, such as nasolabial folds.

Hard Fillers are used to give shape and are injected into bone-supported areas such as the nose, corners and oval of the jawline and the chin.

Hyaluronic Acid Prices - Cost

The cost of hyaluronic acid treatment depends on the area, number and depth of wrinkles and the quantity (mls) of the product, which is necessary for each person. The final cost of your treatment will be known to you in the clinical evaluation with our qualified Doctors, with whom you will also determine your aesthetic treatment plan. In order to have an estimation of the cost for hyaluronic in our Clinics that starts from 150 euros.

Hyaluronic Acid - Duration of Result

The duration of action of Hyaluronic Acid depends on:

● The type of hyaluronic acid (usually thicker hard fillers last longer)

● The area of application (in areas with less mobility the hyaluronic lasts longer). So the duration is longer on places like the cheekbones and chin and shorter on the lips).

● Factors such as age (the metabolism of hyaluronic acid is greater at younger ages) and lifestyle habits (smoking and alcohol consumption negatively affect the lifespan of fillers).

Hyaluronic Acid Treatment Step by Step

Υαλουρονικό Οξύ Εκτίμηση Προσώπου
Step 1

Medical History - Face Assessment

First, there is a discussion with the Doctor about your needs and wishes. If you have had a similar treatment in the past, you must let us know when this was, as well as for the type of hyaluronic acid and for the areas where the material was injected, as not all fillers interact well with each other. After studying your skin type and the needs of your face, the Doctor suggests the appropriate fillers that can offer you the desired result and designs your treatment plan.

Step 2

Skin Preparation - Anaesthetic Cream

Preparation for hyaluronic acid treatment begins with thorough cleansing of the skin and antisepsis. Then on clean skin, an anaesthetic cream is applied so that any discomfort is reduced to a minimum and the treatment is completely tolerable.

Step 3

Marking - Filler Application

In this step, the anaesthetic cream is removed and the Doctor will mark on your face the areas where the injections of the filler will be made and immediately after that the treatment will begin.

Step 4

Post Treatment Instructions

The Doctor records in your file the areas of the face and the number of mls of hyaluronic acid used per area and gives you detailed instructions for the following days.

Instructions before Hyaluronic Acid treatment

icon

Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Mesulid, Brufen, Voltaren) and analgesics (e.g. aspirin) for at least one week before the treatment, as they increase the possibility of bleeding and therefore bruising, during the treatment.

icon

Also avoid taking vitamins and multivitamin preparations, for at least one week before the treatment, as these are substances that increase the bleeding tendency and consequently the risk of bruising.

icon

It would be best not to consume alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.

icon

Before your treatment, the area of your face should be clean and without make-up.

icon

Do not do the treatment 1-5 days before an important event, because there might be bruising or swelling at the injection sites. It is better to schedule it a week in advance.

Instructions after Hyaluronic Acid treatment

icon

You can return to your activities immediately, as long as you do not touch the area where the filler was injected, unless the Doctor recommends that you massage the area. If you attempt to massage, without the advice of the Doctor, there is a risk of displacing the hyaluronic acid to another area, causing unwanted results.

icon

Swelling at the injection sites is always present in everyone after the application of hyaluronic acid (especially in the lip area where it is much more intense) and you can treat it by applying an ice cold pack or a cold compress to the sites several times a day, for 5 - 10 minutes each time, for the first 2 - 5 days.

icon

When you touch the areas that the filler was placed, it is possible to feel the hyaluronic inside to be hard. This is normal and expected for everyone and this hard feeling of the material can last for up to a week.

icon

Avoid intense facial expressions and lip biting for 48 hours.

Οδηγίες Μετά το Υαλουρονικό Οξύ
icon

There is no restriction on the application of your make-up and you can use your lipstick from the same day of application.

icon

It is advisable to avoid intense aerobic or resistance exercises for the next 1-2 days after application, so that any swelling in the area does not intensify.

icon

Try to avoid hot showers and excessive sun exposure for the next 2 days.

icon

Avoid alcohol and aspirin for 1 day after the treatment. It is recommended to drink plenty of water around 2 liters for the first week after your treatment, as hyaluronic is a hydrophilic molecule and this will help it to swell more.

icon

If you experience bruising at the injection sites, you can treat them with a topical arnica cream.

Lip Augmentation - Superstar Lips
Well-shaped, juicy lips, within 15 minutes and with no recovery time. Does that sound like a dream to you? In Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics we make it a reality! We have created for you a new, innovative protocol, Superstar Lips for which we received the first nationwide award (Gold Award) at Medical Beauty Awards. Respecting your anatomical features, the the Superstar Lips protocol helps you to achieve exactly what its name suggests. Stunning Lips like the ones you admire on famous women, that will transform you into... a Superstar!

Hyaluronic acid is the ideal way to add extra volume to your lips, make them fuller and emphasize their outline. The hyaluronic acid we use for lips in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics is a special filler. It is used only for lip augmentation, with a special composition that ensures that the lips remain soft and elastic and both their appearance and feeling will be completely natural.

The protocol No More Baggage, No More Tears is a hyaluronic acid treatment for the eyes and is done with the microcannula technique, helping to fill the skin under the eyes with hyaluronic acid, thus reducing the visibility of dark circles. The effectiveness of the protocol and the high satisfaction rates of our patients made this protocol stand out and was awarded nationwide at the Medical Awards as the best medical protocol for treating Dark Circles with hyaluronic acid.

The protocol No More Baggage, No More Tears helps improve the overall texture and hydration of the under-eye area, giving it a more youthful and refreshed appearance. The result is immediate, as the eye looks more rested and brighter in just a few minutes. The treatment of dark circles with hyaluronic microcannula technique requires only 1 session and its effect lasts for 12 - 18 months. The hyaluronic acid we use for the eyes in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics is a special approved filler, used only for the eye area, with a special composition that ensures completely natural results.

Hyaluronic in the Nose - Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty - Nose You Up Protocol

Apart from lips and eyes, another quite popular treatment for which we have also been awarded is our Non Surgical Rhinoplasty, with the innovative protocol Nose You Up, for which we got the first award nationally (Gold Award) at Medical Beauty Awards. This Signature treatment not only promises, but manages to non-surgically straighten your nose, correcting all its imperfections and giving a natural effect at the same time. It is a completely innovative treatment with immediate and safe results. In Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics our target is not just to make you more beautiful, but to create the best version of yourself without exaggerations and changes that "hit" the eye and spoil the uniformity of your face.

It is worth noting that with this technique only the external aspect of the nose is improved and not the dysfunction due to a crooked nasal septum, if it coexists. The Doctor who performs this application should be very experienced and knowledgeable about the surgical anatomy of the area, as there are cases of patients with serious vascular complications from injections in this area, in the hands of non-specialists. For the above reasons, the Non Surgical Rhinoplasty using Hyaluronic Acid should be performed exclusively in the Clinic by an experienced Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon.

A young and attractive face is characterized by angles. Over time, bone mass and fat decrease and this combined with a decrease in elastin and collagen, make our cheekbones look hollow. For this reason, the areas of the cheekbones are injected with hyaluronic acid to restore lost volumes or even emphasize them at younger ages, thus achieving more distinct cheekbones that perfectly show off your blushes and highlighters. In the areas of the cheekbones, a special hyaluronic acid of high molecular weight is used and for this reason the duration of the result ranges from 12 to 18 months.

3D Contouring με Υαλουρονικό Οξύ στο Jawline
3D Contouring με Υαλουρονικό Οξύ

The 3D Contouring belongs to the Top 5 aesthetic facial treatments and is one of the award-winning treatments of our Clinics, as we brought the 3D Contouring to Greece with innovative, minimally invasive techniques, which gives a result, like what Instagram filters give. It is an aesthetic procedure, performed with hyaluronic acid fillers and designed to lift, shape and improve the natural features of the face, offering a more accentuated appearance in the angles and oval of jawline.

The hyaluronic acid we use for 3D Contouring in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics is a special approved material, of high molecular weight and for this reason the duration of the result ranges from 12 to 18 months.

The chin is often underestimated, but it belongs to the anatomical features of the central line of the face and this alone is enough to enhance or detract the beauty and harmony of a face. In some people their chin is smaller in profile compared to their nose and forehead or in others it is asymmetrical. Both of these aesthetic problems are corrected without surgery, painlessly and bloodlessly with the use of hyaluronic acid. The result is immediate and has a long duration ranging from 12 to 18 months, as the chin is an area that is not subject to many movements and the special hyaluronic acid we use is of high molecular weight.

Mid-Brow Wrinkles (Frown Lines)

They are formed between the eyebrows in moments of anger or frowning, which, as the eyebrows come together, create two intense vertical furrows, which resemble the number "11". Mid-Brow lines are often called “frown lines” and are mainly due to how expressive a person is. The treatment of these wrinkles requires the application of thin hyaluronic acid and for this reason it is done with Hyaluronic Skin Boosters, for a more natural effect. Depending on the metabolism of each person, the results last from 8-12 months.

Neck Wrinkles - Tech Neck

As its name implies, the Tech Neck occurs when you repeatedly bend your head downward to look at your mobile causing, in addition to musculoskeletal problems, neck wrinkles and neck laxity. Someone would think that technology provides solutions to ageing problems and not that it creates them!

And yet in the case of the Tech Neck, the opposite happens. Every day most of us spend at least two hours on our phones and at least another two on our computers. If you even consider that the average person bends over their phone about 150 times a day at an angle of 45 degrees, the damage is unavoidable. So neck wrinkles and neck laxity inevitably make their appearance, even at younger ages.

Hyaluronic Skin Boosters treatment is applied by injections to "plump" horizontal neck wrinkles, increase the skin's collagen and restore the lost firmness. The hyaluronic acid used is of a specific molecular weight, thin and ideal for the delicate and sensitive area of the neck.

Neck Wrinkles
Perioral Wrinkles

Lip Wrinkles (Smoker Lines)

Don't be deceived by the name as it's not just for smokers! These are the static, vertical wrinkles around the mouth, mainly on the upper lip. One of the fastest and easiest ways to reduce these lines is with injectable hyaluronic acid treatment.

Marionette Lines (Sadness Lines)

These are the deep lines that start at the corners of the mouth and extend downwards to the chin, making you look sad or angry. These are due to age and gradual reduction of elastin and collagen which make the skin thinner and the static wrinkles to appear.

Ρυτίδες Θλίψης
Nasolabial Wrinkles (Smile Lines)

Nasolabial Wrinkles (Smile Lines)

The nasolabial wrinkles start from the corners of the nose and continue downwards to the corners of the mouth. They are not necessarily a result of ageing, as they appear even in younger people, due to their expressiveness. Hyaluronic acid in this area is one of the most common applications and many times it can be combined with injection of hyaluronic acid in the area of the cheekbones, for a total lifting effect.

Acne Scars - Filling with Hyaluronic Acid

A frequent result of acne is the marks and scars it leaves behind, when it is not treated properly and in time. Acne scars are difficult and require a multifaceted treatment, with a combination of treatments, one of which is the application of thin hyaluronic acid, which achieves their immediate filling.

Fine Wrinkles - Hyaluronic Skin Boosters

Mesotherapy with Hyaluronic Skin Boosters is done with injections to "fill" the fine lines present in various parts of the face and neck. This treatment, in addition to immediately filling fine wrinkles, increases the skin's collagen and restores the lost firmness of the face and neck. The result it offers is unique, as it combines exceptionally the duration of a filler (8-12 months), with the ease of use and the excellent hydration of a hyaluronic mesotherapy. For those of you who haven't already tried it, it should definitely be on your next Must-Have!

Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics stand out not only for their award-winning medical protocols and the safety in the application of injectable hyaluronic acid treatments, but also because we are the No1 Medical Clinic that corrects failed results from others every week.

And usually the story starts like that …You were afraid to go to a Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon to avoid the pain from the injections and you mistakenly trusted that friend who went to a "girl" at home or an esthetician who does eyelashes and also Hyaluron Pen without injections. And the result is tragic! Lips swollen, unnatural, with lumps and bumps everywhere! You want to remove that immediately, but unfortunately the unqualified girl you went to is not a Doctor to do a Hyaluronidase injections. She doesn't want to do anything and tells you to go to a Doctor! Why she does fillers you will be thinking now, since she is not a Doctor… But it is also your fault that you trusted her. Just as you would never go to a Dentist to have a baby’s delivery and to an Urologist to regulate your blood pressure, you should not go to Non-Dermatologists and Non-Plastic Surgeons for medical aesthetic procedures.

Αφαίρεση Υαλουρονικού Οξέος με Υαλουρονιδάση

It is common that people come to our Clinics with complications and facial deformities, after this type of treatment by non-specialists and of course we are then called upon to correct them. Unfortunately, people are not well informed and are persuaded by cheap prices in beauty salons, by people who are not even Doctors, but girls who call themselves beauticians and "cosmetologists" who apply everything from nails and eyelashes to illegal injectable treatments, even using the word Botox and Hyaluronic in their promotions, when in reality they are treating you with Chinese products and are practising on you.

So when everything goes wrong, hyaluronic acid removal with hyaluronidase should be done. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid and has been used safely in medicine for decades. The results are immediately visible within 1-2 days and no recovery or stay at home is required, since the person can return to their daily activities immediately after the correction.

Hyaluronic Offers and Deceits

It is a fact that the field of Medical Aesthetics, both worldwide and in Greece, have an increased demand from consumers and this has aroused the interest of many, how to profit from all this. As you know, you get what you pay for and you should not be cheated by no one. That's why you should be well informed for the treatment you want and it is even more important that yo correctly choose the Doctor who will implement the treatment for you.

Unfortunately in Greece during the recent years, has been observed the phenomenon of dealing with this aesthetic field illegally, from Doctors of other specialties, who do not have expertise in the application of aesthetic treatments and who are not Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons, but unfortunately also by non-Doctors, such as beauticians who do from nails and eyelashes to injectable hyaluronic illegally in homes or beauty salons and spas.

In case that you realize that a person does not have the medical specialty of Dermatology or Plastic Surgery and is presented as''cosmetolog'' or esthetician or cosmetic doctor (while not having a specialty) and pretends to be a doctor by performing aesthetic treatments illegally, you should inform the Athens Medical Association (210 3816404), the Directorate of Hygiene of the Prefecture of Athens (213 1600365), but also the Hellenic Dermatology Society (2107295606), where you can report them for counterfeiting and illegal profiteering
You should be especially careful and cautious at low prices of hyaluronic acid of 100 - 120 euros and do not go to homes and beauty salons for applications of injectables, as in case of emergency (bleeding, allergic anaphylactic shock, intra-arterial injection of hyaluronic acid with subsequent thrombosis, blindness etc) your health will be at risk and you will be faced with conditions that these non skilled people don’t know how to deal with.

Myths & Truths about Hyaluronic Acid

Myth: Botox is better than Hyaluronic acid

Truth: We would not say that one treatment is better than the other. We could say that one treatment complements the other and that the combination of both, in the same session is ideal. Botox and hyaluronic are different substances and therefore have different actions. Botox stops the strong contraction of the muscles and thus the unwanted expression wrinkles of the face and neck. On the contrary, hyaluronic acid fills the wrinkles and moisturizes the skin, leaving the muscle intact. In Botox treatment, the result starts to be seen in about a week, while in hyaluronic treatment the result is seen immediately. Botox treats dynamic expression wrinkles better, while hyaluronic acid treats static wrinkles better

Myth: The more mls of filler I put, the better it is

Truth: When it comes to fillers, more is definitely not the best. Frequent and excessive injections of hyaluronic acid can lead to bad results. To avoid this, the Doctor who performs the applications plays a very important role and should have a sense of harmony and anatomical balance, to give you perfect results. For us when it comes to hyaluronic treatments, our approach and philosophy in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics is Less-is-More.

Myth: The effect does not last long

Truth: This depends on what filler you choose to have. If you choose cheap Chinese Fillers of 100 - 120 euros you should not expect them to last longer than 1-2 months. However, if you choose to use branded and approved fillers, then depending on the area of their application, as well as their molecular weight, the duration of the effect will be from 12-18 months. In fact, many of the newest products, such as Profhilo promote collagen production, so that even after they are absorbed, they leave the skin noticeably renewed.

Myth: The effect is irreversible

Truth: The reality is that in case something went wrong or we simply did not like the result of the injections and wish to reverse it, this is possible with the local injection of an enzyme called Hyaluronidase which has the ability to dissolve the hyaluronic acid.

Myth: Hyaluronic will show and make me have duck lips

Truth: As we mentioned before, our approach and philosophy to fillers is Less-is-More. The women that come to us wish to have plump lips that perfectly match the rest of their face and look natural. That’s why our Superstar Lips protocol has been awarded as the best lip augmentation protocol. We correct duck lips from others every week and it is certain that you will never see such ugly and excessive applications from us.

Myth: If you start applications with hyaluronic acid, you must continue to avoid skin "hanging"

Truth: No, not at all. What is happening is exactly the opposite. Over time our natural hyaluronic acid decreases, our bone mass decreases and so does the fat we have on our face. And for these reasons, medical science uses the laboratory-made synthetic hyaluronic acid, to replace these volumes that are lost in the face and cause the skin to sag. Essentially hyaluronic is like stopping the time, at the point when you had your treatment. If you stop, the skin will not only go back to where it was when you had your last application, but it will also be in better condition since then, as it has not had further loss due to synthetic hyaluronic.

Frequent Questions about Hyaluronic Acid

No. Hyaluronic acid fillers are injected with a fine needle or completely atraumatically using a microcannula technique. Also a topical anaesthetic cream may be used for 20 minutes prior to treatment to minimize any discomfort.

Hyaluronic acid injections have no recovery time and everyone returns to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, there may be some mild side effects such as redness, swelling and possible bruising at the injection sites, which usually subside within a few hours to a few days. To minimize the risk of side effects and ensure a smooth recovery, it is important to comply with the instructions after the procedure.

When hyaluronic acid treatment is applied by an experienced Doctor, then it is absolutely safe. Only some mild and transient side effects may occur, such as pain, swelling or even bruising at the injection sites. These are temporary side effects that settle after a few days and you don't need to worry.

When hyaluronic acid treatment is applied by an experienced Doctor, then it is absolutely safe. Only some mild and transient side effects may occur, such as pain, swelling or even bruising at the injection sites. These are temporary side effects that settle after a few days and you don't need to worry. It is important to know that the fillers used in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinics are certified and approved products with CE Mark and have received the approval of the European Medicines Agency, as well as the American Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Hyaluronic acid is considered safe for most people, as it is an ingredient that exists and is produced naturally in the human body, but there are some contraindications or situations in which its use is not recommended. These include:

  • Active skin infections or inflammation in the treatment area
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Allergy to the ingredients contained in the hyaluronic syringe (e.g. lidocaine which is a local anaesthetic)
  • Blood coagulation disorders or anticoagulant therapy (relative contraindication)

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are a particularly safe treatment and can be done even during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with the consent of your Gynecologist, as hyaluronic acid is a substance that already exists in our body.

The results of hyaluronic acid are visible immediately after the treatment. Results may vary depending on the type and amount of hyaluronic acid used, as well as the specific area applied, but in general, results are visible immediately. Once the treatment is complete, you will be able to see the result in the mirror!

If you are not satisfied with the results of hyaluronic acid treatment, these can be reversed with hyaluronidase injection. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that can break down hyaluronate, if necessary.

The average duration of a filler is 6-18 months. As soon as you find that the effect begins to wear off, then it is time to repeat your treatment. Remember that the duration of the effect depends on three main factors: the type of filler, the area of application and the metabolic rate of each person.
The truth is that there is no age limit for hyaluronic acid treatments. That means that one can start applying hyaluronic acid from the age of 18 and above, especially for applications such as lip augmentation. In the 30 - 40 age group it is true that hyaluronic treatments are used more often, as these individuals wish to reverse the first signs of ageing and emphasize their natural beauty and self-confidence.

Yes, Hyaluronic Skin Boosters are the same in duration as Hyaluronic Fillers, but differ in the way of application. Hyaluronic Skin Boosters are injected to "fill" the fine static wrinkles that exist in various parts of the face and neck, but without giving volume. This treatment, in addition to immediately filling fine wrinkles, increases the skin's collagen and restores the skin's lost firmness. The result is unique, as it combines exceptionally the duration of the effect of a filler (8-12 months), with the ease of use and the excellent hydration of a hyaluronic mesotherapy. For those of you who haven't already tried it, it should definitely be on your next Must-Have!

It is important to note that Profhilo is not another hyaluronic acid filler and does not add volume to the face like other injectables. Instead, its primary purpose is to provide hydration and firmness and improve the quality of the skin, both on the face where it is mainly applied, but also on the neck, where it can also be applied. Profhilo can best be described as a "biostimulator", containing a form of hyaluronic acid, produced in a different way than traditional methods, allowing this hyaluronic acid to diffuse evenly throughout the skin, to produce more collagen and elastin. In that way, it offers a firm and deeply hydrated skin.
