Botox is applied to the facial muscles that create deep wrinkles. These wrinkles are created by ordinary expressions, such as laughing, surprise, frowning and anger. Botox is injected by small intramuscular injections at the appropriate points, mitigating the nerve stimulus which causes muscle motility
That way the muscle relaxes, as long as the effect of the medication lasts and this prevents the appearance of wrinkles in the overlying skin. The effect of the treatment lasts 4 - 6 months and it is recommended to repeat the treatment 2-3 times per year, for an excellent and stable result.
The cost of Botox treatment depends on the area, the number and depth of the wrinkles and the units of the product, which are necessary for each person. The final cost of your personalised treatment will be known to you, at the end of your consultation, with our qualified Doctors, but in order to have an estimation of the starting cost for 3 zones therapy this is 150 euros.
In this step, the anaesthetic cream is first removed and the Doctor asks you to make some expressions, in order to observe the movements of your muscles. The Doctor will mark on your face, the points where the Botox injections will be done and immediately after the application will begin.
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Mesulid, Brufen, Voltaren) and analgesics (e.g. aspirin) for at least one week before the treatment, as they increase the possibility of bleeding and therefore bruising, during the treatment.
Also avoid taking vitamins and multivitamin preparations, for at least one week before the treatment, as these are substances that increase the bleeding tendency and consequently the risk of bruising.
It would be best not to consume alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
Before your treatment, the area of your face should be clean and without make-up.
You can return to your activities immediately, as long as you do not touch the area, where the medicine was injected, for at least the first 4 hours.
Avoid lying down for the first 4 hours after treatment. This will prevent the medicine from moving into the eye area and causing complications, such as drooping of the eyebrow.
It is best to avoid vigorous aerobic exercise for 1 day.
Try to avoid hot showers and excessive sun exposure for the next 2 days.
On the first day of your treatment it is best to avoid a hair dryer, on the areas of the face where you had Botox.
If you experience bruising at the injection sites, you can treat them with a topical arnica cream.
Forehead wrinkles are caused by repeated facial expressions and muscle movement, when we raise our eyebrows in surprise. Botox is commonly used to treat them, by relaxing the forehead muscles that cause these wrinkles, giving a smoother appearance. Other treatments for forehead wrinkles include fillers, laser treatments and chemical peels.
These are the vertical wrinkles that form between the eyebrows and have the shape of the number 11, due to repeated facial expressions, such as frowning or squinting. Botox works by relaxing the muscles in between the eyebrows and this reduces the appearance of these lines.
Laugh lines, also known as "crow's feet", are wrinkles that form on the outer corner of the eyes and extend towards the temples, when we smile or laugh. They are often caused by a combination of factors, such as the loss of collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin and repeated facial expressions. Botox is commonly used to treat these lines, by relaxing the muscles around the eyes, which can reduce the appearance of crow's feet.
These refer to the excessive gingival (gum) display during smiling. This can occur due to various factors such as genetics, lip incompetence and overactive elevator muscles of the upper lip. Botox relaxes the responsible muscles, leading to a smoother and nicer smile, without gums showing.
These are the wrinkles that form around the mouth due to repeated facial expressions, such as smiling, eating and smoking. Botox can be used to reduce the appearance of these wrinkles by relaxing the muscles in the area, but it's important to note that the results are temporary for 4-6 months and repeated treatments are necessary to maintain the effect.
Overdosing or underdosing can affect the longevity of Botox, so it is important to follow the recommended dosing and interval, as advised by your medical professional.
To extend the life of Botox, schedule maintenance treatments, before the effect wears off completely. Repeated treatments "train" the muscles to respond to this medication, for a longer period of time.
We medically call bruxism that idiopathic condition, where the person involuntarily, without his will, grinds and clenches his teeth, during his sleep or during the day, due to involuntary intense clenching. This is mainly noticed by his/her partner or the Dentist, as in addition to annoying hearing, it also causes damage to the teeth. Botox appears to help treat severe cases of bruxism by relaxing the jaw muscles, reducing masticatory muscle tightness and the pain it causes.
Botox in the masseters is a medical Botox application, which must always be applied by Doctors, Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons certified in the method, as the risk of side effects is high. The application of Botox to the masseters, apart from the benefits that it has on teeth grinding, also has the side benefit, that after some consecutive Botox applications, it causes a gradual thinning of the the masseter muscles, making the face look thinner and more youthful and well-shaped, obtaining a V - Shape, which many people desire.
Three basic elements are involved in every smile, the lips, the gums and the teeth. The correct position of the lips and gums in relation to the teeth can highlight a beautiful smile, while exposing too much gum can make a smile look less attractive. The smile that exposes the gums a lot is called Gummy Smile and can now be corrected very easily with the Gummy Smile Botox.
Botox is applied to the muscles of the upper lip that are responsible for pulling the upper lip. The injection of the medication should be done by qualified Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons, with small intramuscular injections at the appropriate points, thus eliminating the nerve stimulus that causes the muscles to contract. That way, the muscle relaxes, for as long as the medication's effect lasts and this prevents the appearance of gums during smile. The treatment is incredibly effective and offers a spectacular result that lasts 4 - 6 months and it is recommended to be repeated a total of 2-3 times per year,, for an excellent and stable result.
The discovery of the relationship between Botox and migraines was made in the early 90s, when it was discovered that people who had Botox treatment for cosmetic reasons on their foreheads automatically experienced an improvement in their frequent headaches as well. This led Doctors to study this phenomenon more and in 2010 Botox was approved for the treatment of migraine. Botox for migraines has been shown to be extremely effective in treating chronic migraines, which are those that occur for more than 15 days a month.
Migraines, unlike simple headaches, is a neurological condition whose main symptom is severe pain located on one side of the head. This pain can be located in the temples, the top of the head or the back and the neck and is due to the intense ‘tightening' activity of the muscles in the respective areas.
It has been observed that migraines are triggered by the irritation of the nerves from the contraction of the muscles through which these nerves pass. Thus, with the application of Botox, in the corresponding muscles, relaxation and reduction of their mobility is achieved which lasts for 3-4 months and relieves the sufferer from the need to consume migraine pills, especially for the annoying pressure headaches.
Hyperhidrosis is a disorder that manifests itself in the palms, armpits and soles when the body produces sweat at times when there is no reason. In contrast, the normal increased secretion of sweat occurs only at times when our body is in conditions of intense stress, intense exercise or increased temperature. It is estimated to affect around 2-3% of the world's population and this practically means that millions of people around the world experience excessive sweating, beyond what is considered normal.
Excessive sweating has a significant impact on a person's quality of life, causing anxiety, discomfort and social embarrassment, limiting many of their daily activities. The medical application of Botox provides a solution to this problem, within 1 week of its application and its beneficial effect on hyperhidrosis lasts for 4 - 6 months.

It is a fact that the treatments of Medical Aesthetics, both worldwide and in Greece, have a constant increasing demand from consumers and this has aroused the interest of many, who enter this health field to have profit. As you know, you get what you pay for and you should not be cheated by no one. For this reason, it is very important that the consumer is well informed, about the treatment he is interested in, but even more important is that he should choose the Doctor, who will safely implement the treatments he wants.
In recent years, we have observed the phenomenon of illegal occupation by Doctors of other specialties that should not do aesthetic procedures, such as:
Paramedical professions such as pharmacists, nurses and beauticians, who illegally apply medical procedures, such as injectable treatments (Botox, hyaluronic, medical laser applications, etc.) even Businessmen who are not even Doctors but have created companies which advertise in Social Media the treatments they provide (often below cost) or showing absolutely impossible results, in order to attract naive clientele to their premises and make profit.
So today, more than ever before, it is necessary that you are properly informed on medical treatments regarding Medical Aesthetics and to know that these treatments must only be performed by Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons, who have specialised in this subject and received licences from the Greek State for practising it. We don't think anyone should be so naive as to think that with weekend seminars someone will learn cosmetic treatments. Therefore it is best to avoid them, unless if you wish to be their “guinea pig’’.
Just as you would never go to a Dentist to give birth and to an Urologist to regulate your blood pressure, you should not go to non-Dermatologists and non-Plastic Surgeons for medical aesthetic procedures. We do not even want to mention the paramedicals (beauticians, nurses, etc) who perform illegal medical procedures in institutes, cosmetic shops, spas or even at home. Definitely you should report those who implement such actions. In case you realise that a person does not have the medical specialty of Dermatology or Plastic Surgery, calls herself a "Cosmetoloq" or "Beautician" or "Aesthetic Doctor" and pretends to be a Doctor by performing medical treatments illegal, you should call and inform the Medical Association of Athens (210 3816404), the Hygiene Department of the Prefecture of Athens (213 1600365), but also the Hellenic Dermatology Society, where you can report them for professional counterfeiting and illegal activities.
Quite often, people with complications and facial deformities come to our Clinics after such treatments by non-specialists and of course we, as specialized Doctors, are called upon to correct them. Unfortunately, people are not informed and are motivated only by cheap prices in aesthetic places, by people who are not even Doctors, but scammers who call themselves "aestheticians" and ''cosmetologists'' who put on everything from nails and eyelashes, to illegal injectable treatments, even using the word Botox and Hyaluronic in their advertisements and offers, while in reality they inject not genuine materials and learn injecting on you.
You should be really careful and cautious of low full face botox prices like 100 - 120 euros and not to go to beauty salons and institutes for injectable applications, as in case of an emergency (bleeding, allergic anaphylactic shock, intra-arterial injection of the filler, etc.) your health will be at risk and you will be faced with conditions that these unskilled people do not know how to deal with. You should have your Health and Safety as a priority.
Truth: The "frozen" expression is the result of an overdose of Botox units. An experienced Doctor knows exactly how many units of medicine to inject at each point, so that the facial expressions look natural and not "frozen". After all, the target of Botox treatment is to improve the patient's appearance and not to change it completely. So when Botox is applied by an experienced Doctor, your natural beauty is enhanced, while you will still be able to smile, frown and express yourself naturally. In other words, you will not lose your expressiveness, only your wrinkles.
Truth: No, under no circumstances. What happens is exactly the opposite. Neurotoxin prevents further and deeper wrinkle formation, because during the treatment period and for the time frame that the medication is active, the muscles have reduced activity. Essentially Botox is like stopping time, at the point you had the treatment and if you stop the skin will go back to where it was when you had your last Botox and not in a worse condition.
Truth: No at all. On the contrary, when Neurotoxin is being regularly repeated, its effect lasts longer and the wrinkles stay smoother for longer. Regular Botox treatment prevents wrinkles from reappearing and keeps the skin youthful, while the effectiveness of the treatment does not decrease at all! In fact, frequent repetition, which is done at the right time and not too soon, improves the appearance of the face even more.
Truth: Botox can still be administered to people as young as 25 years old, depending on how expressive they are. Some people develop deep expression wrinkles from a young age, due to their intense facial muscle contractions. In these cases, prevention is better than treatment and it is recommended to treat the problem, while it is at an early stage, before permanent, deep wrinkles are created.
Although it is an anti-aging treatment, this does not mean that this particular treatment cannot be applied to younger ages as well. Botox can be administered even to people as young as 25, depending on how expressive they are. Some people develop deep expression lines from a young age due to intense facial muscle contraction. Botox treatment is usually started after the age of 35.
As the body metabolises the active substance of Botox, its action weakens, the muscles slowly regain their mobility and your face returns to its pretreatment state. However, you can maintain the effect of Botox, by repeating the treatment at regular intervals of 4-6 months. On average, 2-3 treatments per year are sufficient.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Botox is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Allergies: People who are allergic to any component of the Botox formulation should not receive the treatment.
Neuromuscular disorders: People with certain neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome should not receive Botox.
Infections: People with skin infections at injection sites should not receive Botox until the infection has healed.
Bleeding disorders: People with bleeding disorders or those taking blood-thinning medications should avoid Botox, as it increases the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection sites.
Previous Botox reaction: People who have previously had an adverse reaction to Botox should not receive the treatment again.
It's important to discuss your medical history, current health status and any concerns with your practitioner to determine if Botox is safe and appropriate for you.
A well-done Botox treatment should result in a more refreshed and youthful appearance and it's possible that your friends may attribute this change to a period of rest or reduced stress. However, the goal of Botox is not to create a dramatic change in your appearance, but to smooth out wrinkles and enhance your natural features, so that you look like a younger and more rested version of yourself. If the treatment is done correctly and by a qualified practitioner, it should not produce an unnatural or "frozen" appearance.
