Masseter Botox

Botox Treatment for Bruxism

Giving a parallel solution to Teeth Grinding and nice angles on the face!

Masseter Botox is applied in two treatments, Bruxism (Teeth Grinding) and non-surgical Facial Slimming, which redefines the oval of the face, giving a V-Shape appearance, which many people desire. Having a fat face is not necessarily seen in overweight people. You may have a fatter face in relation to your body, because your masseters may be larger in size than normal. Masseter Botox is a medical Botox application, which should always be applied by Doctors certified in the method, Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons, as the risk of side effects in the hands of non-qualified people is great.

What is Bruxism?

We medically call bruxism an idiopathic condition, where the person involuntarily, without his will grinds and clenches his teeth, during his sleep or during the day, due to involuntary intense clenching of the jawline. This is mainly noticed by his/her partner or the Dentist, as in addition to annoying hearing, it also causes damage to the teeth. Teeth Grinding occurs in children and adults, men and women. It is more common in children, but usually subsides with adulthood. It is a common pathological condition, which is estimated to affect 10% of adults and 15% of children.

Τι είναι το Botox στους Μασητήρες
Botox is a type A Neurotoxin, a pure protein produced by the microorganism Clostridium Botulinum. The injection of the medication is done with small intramuscular injections at the appropriate points of the muscle, thus mitigating the nerve stimulus that causes the muscles to move. That way the muscle relaxes, for as long as the medication's effect lasts and this prevents its strong contraction. The effect of the treatment lasts 4 - 6 months and it is recommended to repeat the treatment a total of 2-3 times a year, for an excellent and stable result. Botox helps to treat cases of bruxism, as it relaxes the jaw muscles, reducing the tightness of the masseter muscle, as well as the pain it causes. The application of Botox to the masseters, apart from the benefits it has on teeth grinding, also has the side benefit, that after some successive Botox applications, a gradual thinning of the masseter muscle is caused, making the face look thinner and more youthful and well-shaped, obtaining a V - Shape, which many people desire.

How to make Masseter Botox last longer

Avoid excessive exposure to heat and sun
Daily and prolonged exposure to heat and UV rays causes the muscles to contract, breaking down the Masseter Botox and shortening its lifetime.
Avoid alcohol consumption
Drinking a big quantity of alcohol daily can increase blood flow and metabolism, which can break down the Botox in the Masseters quicker.
Follow the recommended dosing and interval
Overdosing or underdosing can affect the longevity of Masseter Botox, so it is important to follow the recommended dosage and interval by our Doctors.
Maintenance of effect
To extend the life of Masseter Botox, schedule maintenance treatments before the effect wears off completely. Repeated treatments "train" the muscles to respond to this medication for a longer period of time.
